The solenoid valves enable users to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. The 2 major types of solenoid valves are direct-acting valves and pilot-operated valves. Direct-acting Solenoid Valves:

This is the main reason a small coil is used to open and close the valves, as the pressure of the liquid is also used to open and close. You can save a lot of energy when using pilot-operated valves.

The pilot-operated valves can be a good option to save electrical power and it can be a power-saving option. If you want to use less power to operate the solenoid valves, then the pilot is better. On the other hand, you need proportional pressure inside the valves. The Pilot-operated valves are automatic and are going to open and close the certain change in pressure. We also recall these valves as pressure differential valves, as these are sensitive to pressure change.

Conclusion:

The two types of proportional solenoid valves are used relative to their functionality. If you have low pressure of the liquid then it is better to use the direct-acting solenoid valves. If there is relative pressure of the liquid is available then the pilot-operated valves are a better option as these proportional solenoid valve working need less electrical power. These valves are cost-saving and can reduce the overall cost of electricity, but you need the relative pressure of the liquid inside the piping network
